Kazuo Kamimura, born in Yokosuka, Kanagawa, was a graduate of Musashino Art University and entered the gekiga world through advertising work. His work "Dōsei Jidai" became a milestone in gekiga history. Kamimura passed away in 1986 at the age of 45.
